High-cost credit
In British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador and Quebec, our loans are high-cost credit products. The cost of borrowing is higher than for many other types of credit. Before you borrow, consider whether a lower-cost option is available to you. See Responsible lending & hardship.
High-cost credit lending in British Columbia is regulated by the Province of British Columbia. Complaints can be made to Consumer Protection BC.
The cost of our loans
- Loan amounts: $[X] to $5,000
- Terms: [X] to [Y] months
- Annual percentage rate (APR): [X]% to [Y]%. Our APR never exceeds 35%, the maximum allowed under the Criminal Code since January 1, 2025. The APR includes interest and all fees that count as part of the cost of borrowing.
- Representative example: a $[amount] loan over [term] months at [rate]% APR has [number] [weekly / bi-weekly / monthly] payments of $[payment]. The total cost of borrowing is $[cost], and the total amount repaid is $[total].
- Fees: [list every fee with its amount and when it applies, or: “We charge no fees other than interest.”] Full details are on our Rates & fees page.
- Your actual rate depends on your application and our credit assessment. It is shown in your loan agreement and disclosure statement before you sign.
